Best AI visibility tools for consulting firms in 2026
By Arnav Mukherjee, founder of TofuBofu · October 31, 2026
In the scans we've run for consulting brands, one kind of page kept turning up in the citations: a consultancy's own list of the best consulting firms for small businesses. A consultancy wrote it, about its own market. There were a lot of them.
The rest of the citations came from neutral ground: BBB profiles, SCORE pages and small-business development centre pages. So engines quote lists, and the field is full of them. A firm that wants to be named needs something the flood lacks. A tool that counts mentions and stops there can't give it that.
Why does consulting need a different test?
A small-business owner hiring a consultant is buying judgement they can't inspect in advance. They ask an engine who's good, they get a shortlist, and they call two names. The engine builds that shortlist from what it can retrieve, and in our consulting scans that meant three kinds of page:
- Rival consultancies' own best-firm lists. Published in large numbers, each written by a firm with a stake in the answer.
- BBB profiles. A neutral record a buyer already trusts.
- SCORE and small-business development centre pages. Advice sources small-business owners turn to before they hire.
My read on what that means: the self-ranked list is table stakes now, and writing another one buys you a seat in a crowded room. Two things stand apart. A comparison that states its criteria in the open, so an engine can lift the reasoning along with the names. And evidence: a page on a real engagement, the method you used and what changed, which no rival's list can carry about you.
Then presence. If engines lean on BBB and small-business advice pages, a missing or thin profile on the ones that apply to you is a gap you can close this month. So the tool a consultancy needs has to show which pages get cited for your queries, write the comparison and evidence content, and check the listings your site points to. Several of the seven here draft too; they differ on price, on which engines they ask, and on whether a re-scan checks the page.
Engines already have plenty of self-ranked lists. Open criteria and real evidence are what they don't have about you.
How did we rank them?
Four criteria, weighted for a consultancy of five to fifty people where a partner owns marketing between client work:
- Does it write the comparison and evidence pages? Heaviest weight.
- Does it show which pages engines cited for each query? That's how you see the rival lists and the BBB profile you're missing.
- Does it ask local and national questions?
- Is the price one a partner will sign off?
TofuBofu is our product. It's first because, at a small firm's price, the plan covers a typical month's drafted articles made from the queries you lose, with newsletters and video scripts on Dominate. It publishes after you approve and re-scans to show whether engines now name you on the query it targets.

1. TofuBofu
- Best for: consultancies with a lean marketing team that want to scan, see why a rival gets named, and get the fix written: comparison pages and evidence posts, plus newsletters and video scripts from Dominate.
- Price (read 31 Oct 2026): Track is free, one scan a month on 5 queries, content ideas and no drafts. Fix is $99 a month for four scans, 10 queries and 10 drafted articles. Dominate is $499 for 25 queries, 25 articles, 10 video scripts and 4 newsletters. Rule starts at $1,999 with Dominate's numbers, done for you by our team.
- Engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Mode, on every plan, with search on for every engine.
- Writes the content? Yes. It drafts from the queries you lose, publishes to WordPress, Webflow, HubSpot, GitHub or a webhook once you approve, and the next scan shows whether engines now name you on the query it targets. Each scan stores every engine's full answer and citations, so you see which rival lists and listings engines leaned on, and the fixes it lists are checked against your site.
- Where it falls short: no Google AI Overviews (we track AI Mode, since Google shows no AI Overview on most vendor-shortlist queries) and no Bing Copilot. Video scripts start at Dominate, and the free plan has no drafts. Finished videos are made with our team, not self-serve in the app. We're a small company, younger than the enterprise vendors.
Our closest customer to a consultancy isn't a consultancy. Inotek Pharma Solutions is a pharmaceutical design and engineering firm that tracks its AI visibility with us. Robgence, a robotics training-data company on Dominate, publishes the articles we draft to its own blog through GitHub. Your own agents can start scans and pull each report, its checked fixes and its content ideas through our REST API, or run scans and read reports over MCP.
2. HubSpot AEO
- Best for: consultancies already running their CRM on HubSpot that want a low-cost scan.
- Price (read 31 Oct 2026): $45 a month billed annually, $50 monthly. No HubSpot subscription required.
- Engines: ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.
- Writes the content? Not on the standalone plan. It tracks visibility, prompts, competitors and citations and gives recommendations. HubSpot's own feature table puts drafting blog posts from those recommendations in Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise, using HubSpot credits.
- Where it falls short: even with Marketing Hub drafting, a blog draft still needs a partner to add the client evidence that makes a consulting page credible. More in our HubSpot AEO review.
3. Peec AI
- Best for: a consultancy with its own writers that wants a tracker that's clean and, in our view, fairly priced.
- Price (read 31 Oct 2026): Starter $95, Pro $245, Advanced $495 a month; Enterprise is custom.
- Engines: Starter, Pro and Advanced include three models, chosen from ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI. More models, Perplexity among them, are paid add-ons without switching plans. Claude is on Enterprise.
- Writes the content? Partly. Content briefs and recommended actions on every plan, and an in-app optimizer, described in its 13 October 2026 changelog, suggests rewrites to pages you already have, which you accept, edit or reject. On the pages we read it doesn't draft new articles from scratch. MCP on every plan, API from Pro.
- Where it falls short: each engine past three is a paid add-on, Claude needs Enterprise, and the comparison and evidence pages a consultancy is missing are new pages, which it doesn't draft. See our Peec review.
4. Semrush
- Best for: consultancies whose marketing already runs on Semrush, through the AI Visibility Toolkit; large firms through Enterprise AIO.
- Price (read 31 Oct 2026): the AI Visibility Toolkit is $99 a month per domain, billed annually, with 25 prompts, and it's sold on its own with no other Semrush subscription required. Enterprise AIO is priced through a demo.
- Engines: not verified for this page. Check Semrush's pricing page before you buy.
- Writes the content? The AI Visibility Toolkit runs content audits and gives guidance; it doesn't draft. Drafting is sold separately in the Content Toolkit at $60 a month billed annually, and Semrush Enterprise AIO generates structured drafts too.
- Where it falls short: 25 prompts covers a few services in a few cities, and on the standalone Toolkit route, drafting means buying the Content Toolkit too.
See which consultancies engines name instead of you. Our free scan asks real buying questions across five AI engines and shows who gets named, and which pages the engines cited. No card, no call.
Check your AI visibility free5. Writesonic
- Best for: teams that want a writing platform with a GEO agent attached.
- Price (read 31 Oct 2026): Starter $79, Basic $199, Growth $399 a month, billed annually; Enterprise custom. Starter includes 15 AI articles a month, Basic 25 and Growth 50.
- Engines: Starter tracks 50 prompts daily on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews; Enterprise tracks nine platforms.
- Writes the content? Yes. Its Action Center, available on Enterprise with a limited trial on Growth, groups competitor citations by intent, surfaces topics you haven't covered for its Article Writer, and ranks page refreshes by citation impact with one-click push to your CMS. Its GEO agent rewrites pages and adds FAQ blocks and comparison tables. It also sells a video-script generator and offers APIs and MCP.
- Where it falls short: its tracked engines start at three on Starter.
6. Profound
- Best for: large consulting firms with a big marketing team and an enterprise budget.
- Price (read 31 Oct 2026): a free 7-day trial with 50 prompts; Enterprise is custom-priced through a demo.
- Engines: the trial covers ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews. Enterprise lists ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Exa Search.
- Writes the content? Yes: posts, images and newsletter drafts, plus a YouTube metadata agent template. Hosted MCP server and REST API.
- Where it falls short: in our view the deepest data in the category, sold through a demo at enterprise pricing. A five-partner firm needs to know which rival's list beat it this month, and it won't use the rest of that depth. Our Profound review has the detail.
7. Otterly.AI
- Best for: a low entry price with engines added as you need them. Its case studies include B2B SaaS companies and agencies, and its homepage shows consumer brands such as BenQ, Avis Budget Group and eToro. For B2C brands we'd point you to Otterly.
- Price (read 31 Oct 2026): Lite $29, Standard $189, Premium $489 a month, lower if annual; Enterprise custom.
- Engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot as standard; Claude, AI Mode and Gemini are paid add-ons.
- Writes the content? Content briefs in the plan; a separate GEO Content Creator tool generates drafts, including articles, blog posts, listicles and comparisons. Its page doesn't say whether that's in the paid plans. MCP and API from Standard.
- Where it falls short: Claude, AI Mode and Gemini cost extra on top of the base engines, and its pages don't say whether drafting is in your plan.
Which one should your consultancy choose?
- Choose TofuBofu if a partner runs marketing between engagements and you want the comparison and evidence pages written, published after your approval and checked on the next scan.
- Choose HubSpot AEO if you live in HubSpot, want a low-cost scan, and have someone to act on its recommendations.
- Choose Peec AI if you have writers, want tidy tracking, and three included engines will do.
- Choose Profound or Semrush Enterprise AIO if you're a large firm with a marketing department and an enterprise budget.
- Choose Otterly if you want the lowest paid entry price here and will add engines as you go. For B2C brands it's our pick.
Whatever you pick, read your citations before you write. If the pages engines quote for your market are rival lists and a BBB profile, that's your brief: fix the profile, then publish the comparison and the evidence page nobody else can write about you. Our consulting guide walks through the content side.
Frequently asked questions
What's the best AI visibility tool for a small consulting firm?
For a lean consultancy that wants drafted articles and comparison pages each month, newsletters on Dominate, published after approval and re-scanned, TofuBofu. If you're already on HubSpot and want a low-cost scan, HubSpot AEO, which recommends what to write; drafting from those recommendations needs Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise. If you have writers and want tracking that's clean and, in our view, fairly priced, Peec AI.
Should my consultancy publish its own best consulting firms list?
Engines do cite those lists in the consulting scans we've run, and rival consultancies publish a lot of them. One more joins a crowded pile. Our view: a comparison that states its criteria openly, and an evidence page built on real client work, give an engine something the pile doesn't have.
Which sources do AI engines cite for consulting firms?
In the scans we've run for consulting brands, engines cited rival consultancies' own lists of the best consulting firms for small businesses, plus BBB profiles, SCORE pages and small-business development centre pages. We haven't published counts, so read that as a pattern from our scans.
Do any AI visibility tools write the content for you?
Several do, in different ways. TofuBofu drafts posts, comparison pages and FAQ pages from the queries you lose, with newsletters and video scripts on Dominate. Profound generates posts, images and newsletter drafts. Writesonic's Action Center, on Enterprise, feeds topics from competitor citations to its Article Writer. Semrush sells drafting in its Content Toolkit and in Enterprise AIO, while the AI Visibility Toolkit gives guidance. HubSpot drafts blog posts from AEO recommendations on Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise, using credits. Otterly has a separate GEO Content Creator, and Peec suggests rewrites to pages you already have.
Which AI visibility tool suits a large consulting firm?
A large firm with a big marketing team should look at Profound or Semrush Enterprise AIO. Both are built and priced for enterprise and sell through a demo. Profound's Enterprise plan lists nine engines, and Semrush Enterprise AIO generates full, structured drafts.
Does TofuBofu track Google AI Overviews or Bing Copilot?
No to both. TofuBofu tracks Google AI Mode instead of AI Overviews, because Google shows no AI Overview on most vendor-shortlist queries. If Copilot or AI Overviews matter to your buyers, Otterly and Peec AI both offer them.
Can our own AI agents pull data from TofuBofu?
Yes. Your own agents can start scans and pull each report, its checked fixes and its content ideas through our REST API, or run scans and read reports over MCP.
