Best AI visibility tools for engineering firms in 2026
By Arnav Mukherjee, founder of TofuBofu · October 31, 2026
When I read the citations from our engineering scans, one domain kept coming back: YouTube. We've scanned a few engineering and design brands so far, and across them YouTube was cited heavily, next to top contractor lists and cost guides. In those answers, engines pointed buyers at video.
That changes what an engineering firm should buy. A tracker tells you you're missing from the answer. Then someone has to write a script, film a walkthrough, cut it and publish it with a transcript. Five of the other six touch video in some way: a metadata template, a generic script generator, a third-party app, a prompt that drafts YouTube titles and abstracts, and a recommendation to publish one. So I've ranked these seven on the question that matters in this vertical: who helps you make the video?
Why do engineering firms need a different test?
An engineering buyer is scoping something physical: a plant, a cleanroom, a structure, a production line. They want to see that you've built one before, understand roughly what it costs, and know who else is in the frame. Our engineering scans lined up with those three needs:
- YouTube, cited heavily. The work is visual and technical, and a walkthrough shows it.
- Top contractor lists. The "top N contractors" pages a buyer uses to build a shortlist.
- Cost guides. Pages that explain what drives the price of a project.
My read: the firm that wins here publishes a video for each project type it wants to be hired for, with a transcript engines can read, then a cost guide in its own words, then makes sure it appears on the lists that rank its category. Video comes first because it's the hardest for a rival to copy.
Inotek Pharma Solutions is our closest fit: a pharmaceutical design and engineering firm that tracks its AI visibility with TofuBofu. We wrote it a video script comparing EU GMP and US FDA requirements, a technical explainer for its pharma clients. We also produced finished videos for Robgence, a robotics training-data company on our Dominate plan. Robgence isn't an engineering firm, but its work is just as hard to explain in text.
From a lost query to a cited video, with lists and cost guides feeding the same answer.
How did we rank them?
- Does it help you make video? Weighted highest, because YouTube was cited heavily in our engineering scans.
- Does it write the rest: cost guides, comparison pages, articles?
- Does it show which page each engine cited for each query? So you can see the video, list or guide that beat you.
- Is it priced for a firm whose marketing is one person, or a partner's evenings?
Engine count alone didn't move a tool up. TofuBofu is our product, and it leads because it's the only AI visibility platform we checked that turns its own citation findings into video scripts as part of the plan, plus finished videos made with you. Profound and Writesonic come next because each has a video feature of its own. Prices were read on each vendor's page on 31 October 2026.

1. TofuBofu
- Best for: engineering and design firms with a lean marketing team that want to scan, diagnose and fix with content, video included.
- Price (read 31 Oct 2026): Track is free with one scan a month, 5 queries and content ideas, no drafts. Fix costs $99 a month: four scans, 10 queries, 10 drafted articles. Dominate costs $499: 25 queries, 25 articles, 10 video scripts and 4 newsletters a month. Rule starts at $1,999 with the same numbers, done for you by our team.
- Engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Mode, on every plan, search on for every engine.
- Writes the content? Yes. Blog posts, comparison pages and FAQ pages from Fix, plus video scripts and newsletters on Dominate, all drafted from the queries you lose. They publish to WordPress, Webflow, HubSpot, GitHub or a webhook after you approve, and the next scan shows whether engines now name you on the query it targets. Finished videos are made with you by our team, as we did for Robgence. Your own agents can start scans and pull each report, its checked fixes and its content ideas through our REST API, or run scans and read reports over MCP.
- Where it falls short: video scripts start at Dominate, and finished videos aren't self-serve in the app. The free plan has no drafts. No Google AI Overviews (we track AI Mode, since Google shows no AI Overview on most vendor-shortlist queries) and no Bing Copilot. We're a small company, younger than the enterprise vendors.
2. Profound
- Best for: large engineering firms with a big marketing team and an enterprise budget.
- Price (read 31 Oct 2026): a free 7-day trial with 50 prompts; Enterprise is custom-priced through a demo.
- Engines: the trial covers ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews. Enterprise lists ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, DeepSeek, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Exa Search.
- Writes the content? Yes: posts, images and newsletter drafts, plus a YouTube metadata agent template. Hosted MCP server and REST API.
- Where it falls short: enterprise pricing for a firm whose marketing may be one person and a site engineer with a phone. The YouTube feature it lists is a metadata agent template, so the walkthrough still has to be scripted and filmed. Our Profound review goes deeper.
3. Writesonic
- Best for: teams that want a writing platform with a GEO agent and a script tool in one place.
- Price (read 31 Oct 2026): Starter $79, Basic $199, Growth $399 a month, billed annually; Enterprise custom. Starter includes 15 AI articles a month, Basic 25 and Growth 50.
- Engines: Starter tracks 50 prompts daily on ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews; Enterprise tracks nine platforms.
- Writes the content? Yes. Its Action Center, available on Enterprise with a limited trial on Growth, groups competitor citations by intent, surfaces topics you haven't covered for its Article Writer, and ranks page refreshes by citation impact with one-click push to your CMS. Its GEO agent rewrites pages and adds FAQ blocks and comparison tables. It also sells a video-script generator and offers APIs and MCP.
- Where it falls short: on the pages we read, the citation-driven topics feed its Article Writer on Enterprise, and its video-script generator is a separate, generic tool.
See which videos and lists engines cite instead of you. Our free scan asks real buying questions across five AI engines and shows who gets named and which pages got cited. No card, no call.
Check your AI visibility free4. Semrush
- Best for: engineering firms whose search marketing already runs on Semrush, through the AI Visibility Toolkit; large firms through Enterprise AIO.
- Price (read 31 Oct 2026): the AI Visibility Toolkit is $99 a month per domain, billed annually, with 25 prompts, and it's sold on its own with no other Semrush subscription required. Enterprise AIO is priced through a demo.
- Engines: not verified for this page. Check Semrush's pricing page before you buy.
- Writes the content? The AI Visibility Toolkit runs content audits and gives guidance; it doesn't draft. Drafting is sold separately in the Content Toolkit at $60 a month billed annually, and Semrush Enterprise AIO generates structured drafts too.
- Where it falls short: video comes through a third-party app in its App Center, the Video SEO Builder by Vidon.ai. On the standalone Toolkit route, drafting means adding the Content Toolkit; Enterprise AIO drafts inside the product.
5. HubSpot AEO
- Best for: firms on HubSpot that want a low-cost scan.
- Price (read 31 Oct 2026): $45 a month billed annually, $50 monthly. No HubSpot subscription required.
- Engines: ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.
- Writes the content? Not on the standalone plan. It tracks visibility, prompts, competitors and citations and gives recommendations. HubSpot's own feature table puts drafting blog posts from those recommendations in Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise, using HubSpot credits.
- Where it falls short: the standalone plan recommends without drafting, and Marketing Hub drafting covers blog posts, not video scripts, so the walkthrough stays with you. See our HubSpot AEO review.
6. Peec AI
- Best for: a firm with its own content and video people that wants a tracker that's clean and, in our view, fairly priced.
- Price (read 31 Oct 2026): Starter $95, Pro $245, Advanced $495 a month; Enterprise is custom.
- Engines: Starter, Pro and Advanced include three models, chosen from ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Microsoft Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI. More models, Perplexity among them, are paid add-ons without switching plans. Claude is on Enterprise.
- Writes the content? Partly. Content briefs and recommended actions on every plan, and an in-app optimizer, described in its 13 October 2026 changelog, suggests rewrites to pages you already have, which you accept, edit or reject. On the pages we read it doesn't draft new articles from scratch. MCP on every plan, API from Pro.
- Where it falls short: on the pages we read it drafts no new articles or scripts, in a vertical where YouTube was cited heavily. More in our Peec review.
7. Otterly.AI
- Best for: a low entry price with engines added as you need them. Its case studies include B2B SaaS companies and agencies, and its homepage shows consumer brands such as BenQ, Avis Budget Group and eToro. For B2C brands we'd point you to Otterly.
- Price (read 31 Oct 2026): Lite $29, Standard $189, Premium $489 a month, lower if annual; Enterprise custom.
- Engines: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot as standard; Claude, AI Mode and Gemini are paid add-ons.
- Writes the content? Content briefs in the plan; a separate GEO Content Creator tool generates drafts, including articles, blog posts, listicles and comparisons. Its page doesn't say whether that's in the paid plans. MCP and API from Standard.
- Where it falls short: its YouTube help is a marketplace prompt that drafts a title and abstract from the videos cited in your report, on plans with API access, rather than a script. Claude, AI Mode and Gemini are add-ons.

Frequently asked questions
What's the best AI visibility tool for an engineering firm?
For a lean engineering or design firm that wants to see where it's missing and get video scripts, finished videos and articles out of it, TofuBofu. A large firm with a big marketing team should look at Profound or Semrush Enterprise AIO. A firm on HubSpot that wants a low-cost scan can start with HubSpot AEO.
Does YouTube help an engineering firm get cited by AI engines?
In the scans we've run for a few engineering brands, YouTube was cited heavily. That's a small sample, so read it as a direction. Engineering work is visual and technical, and a walkthrough of a real project explains it in a way a text page struggles to match.
Which AI visibility tools help with video?
TofuBofu turns its own citation findings into video scripts as part of the Dominate plan, and our team makes finished videos with you. Writesonic sells a generic video-script generator. Profound has a YouTube metadata agent template. Semrush offers video through a third-party app in its App Center. Otterly has a marketplace prompt that drafts a YouTube title and abstract from cited videos. HubSpot AEO's recommendations can suggest publishing a video but don't write scripts, and Peec AI lists no video feature on the pages we read.
What else do AI engines cite for engineering firms?
Alongside YouTube, our engineering scans showed top contractor lists, the 'top N contractors' style of page, and cost guides. A firm that appears on the relevant lists and publishes its own clear cost guide covers both.
Should an engineering firm publish a cost guide?
Our view is yes. Engines cited cost guides in our engineering scans, and a buyer scoping a project wants to know what drives the price before calling anyone. Explain the cost drivers from your own projects and say what moves the number up or down.
We already have a video team. Which tool fits?
With a video team and an enterprise budget, Profound pairs nine Enterprise engines with a YouTube metadata agent template. For scripts on demand, Writesonic sells a video-script generator. For scripts chosen by the queries you're losing, TofuBofu drafts them from its scan findings on the Dominate plan and your team films them.
Can TofuBofu make the finished video for us?
Yes, with you. Our team produced finished videos for Robgence, a robotics training-data company. It isn't self-serve in the app: our team works with you on the script and the cut. Video scripts come with the Dominate plan.
