What does the TofuBofu AI Visibility Index measure?

The TofuBofu AI Visibility Index is a mention rate: the percentage of AI engine answers, across every question in your scan, that name your company. It is a label on top of that number, not a separate hidden formula. The underlying figure is the same one the per-question board and the per-engine board are both built from, so drilling into the Index always lands on a real question and a real answer, never an opaque blend.

What counts as an answer

Each engine's answer to each question is counted separately. A question that asks about your brand by name (used to check sentiment) is excluded from the Index, since asking "what do people think of Acme" and getting Acme back is not a visibility signal.

no_answer is not absence

When an engine returns nothing usable for a question, TofuBofu records that row as no_answer and drops it from the denominator rather than counting it as "did not name you". An engine going silent is not evidence you are absent, so it is excluded from scoring instead of dragging the Index down. If a question has too few real answers to score at all, its status reads "Too few answers to score" rather than a number.
