Documentation / Connections

What does connecting Search Console and Analytics read, and what does it never write?

Connecting Google (Search Console and Analytics) is optional and read only. TofuBofu asks for exactly two scopes, both read-only: Search Console (webmasters.readonly) and Analytics (analytics.readonly). Nothing is ever written back to your Search Console property or your GA4 account; the connection is one-directional, in.

What it is for

Once connected, your real Search Console impressions, clicks and position data, and your real GA4 sessions, sit beside your AI visibility data so you can see both moving together, and the connection feeds real search demand into content ideas. It is a complement to TofuBofu's own AI-referral tag (which flags visits an AI engine sent you), not a replacement for it: Search Console and Analytics carry the pre-click half our own tag cannot see (impressions and query text before anyone clicks), and our tag carries AI referrals correctly labelled by engine, which Google Analytics buckets as plain Direct traffic.

Current availability

This connection is real and live, reading real Search Console and Analytics data today. It is currently in limited early access: Google's own verification process for the connecting app is still in progress, which caps how many accounts can use it and how long a connection lasts before it needs reconnecting. If you want early access, email arnav@tofubofu.com and we will tell you honestly whether it fits your account today. General availability, without that limit, is not yet dated.

Disconnecting

Revoke the connection any time from Settings. Disconnecting deletes every imported row immediately; nothing is retained after you disconnect.
